To showcase the development and design process of the NUGS educational app, created to serve the needs of the National Union of Ghana Students by providing a comprehensive platform for educational resources, community engagement, and student support.
Problem
Lack of Centralized Educational Resources and Support for Ghanaian Students
- Fragmented Access to Information: Students struggle to find relevant educational materials, resulting in inefficiencies and increased academic stress.
- Limited Community Engagement: Opportunities for students to connect, discuss, and collaborate are scarce, leading to a sense of isolation and reduced peer support.
- Insufficient Student Support Services: Many students are unaware of the available support services, such as counseling and career guidance, which affects their overall well-being and academic performance.
Solution
- Centralize Access to Educational Resources: Provide a single platform for students to access lecture notes, textbooks, video lectures, and study guides.
- Enhance Community Engagement: Facilitate forums, discussion boards, and event calendars to foster a supportive and interactive student community.
- Improve Student Support Services: Offer information on counselling, scholarships, and career services to ensure students have the necessary resources for academic and personal success.
The NUGS app’s UI/UX design project effectively created a student-centered educational platform for Ghanaian students, fostering engagement, support, and academic success through research, user feedback, and iterative design processes.
